History

This profile is part of the Edisto Island, South Carolina One Place Study.

The Seaside Plantation was owned by Christopher Jenkins (1769-1794). It was located on Bulls Island, which was in St. Luke's Parish, Charleston County, South Carolina. Christopher and Isaac Jenkins both had slaves on this property. Christopher owned 26 1/2 enslaved persons, and Isaac at his death owned 13 1/2 enslaved persons.[1] Christopher Jenkins was a planter. It is unknown what he grew on this property. Christopher's St Luke's Parish property was named in his probate inventory in 1794.[2]
